Young Men is the debut album from Jennah Barry, a native Nova Scotian who returned there from the big city for some inspiration. Needless to say, it worked. Released August 14th, the record cannot be described as anything else but charming.
Across this country, there are many female songstresses who sing like birds and play acoustic guitar. Not to discredit any of them, but at times it’s hard to find uniqueness among these ladies. With Jennah Barry, the realization that she’s different is instant. She still sings like a bird and plays guitar, but it’s her heart and soul that comes through more than anything. It’s the sincerity and honesty that sets her apart. I’ve listened to the record countless times and have yet to tire of it, as it varies between simplicity and complexity but is always captivating.
Here is a highlight track that Jennah recorded live with Analog Songs by the ocean, “Slow Dance”.
