Vancouverite and native prairie-dweller Deanna Cartea really has a special quality to her voice. Husky and powerful, but haunting and soft, in all the right places. Her music is a combination of roots and alt country with a definite blues influence. She has one album to date entitled Open Road which includes a nice sampling of sounds and styles that she’s capable of. “Cover Me With Flowers” is driven by a subtle bassline, over which Cartea’s smoky voice flows effortlessly over. Spooky in sound, it’s a treat to the ears.
