Strumming out anthemic folk songs all the way across this vast nation of ours is Alberta native Mike Edel. Now a member of the BC music scene, his music still resonates sounds of the prairies and mountains alike, a landscape that can be found only in Canada’s West. Upon learning that Mike has only one album to his name, one might be surprised given the maturity and conviction in his music. Perhaps it can be explained by how much he has toured. Or maybe it’s just golden songwriting talent. Either way, it’s a wonderful thing to be witness to.
Mike Edel just released a single entitled ”The Country Where I Came From”, accompanied by a gorgeous video marked by the continuous increasing of light. The song itself combined with the video makes for an experience that brought a tear to my eye. Pride really is a powerful thing.
