In just the last forty years, music videos have become a vital part in becoming a successful musician. Because of that, so many different music videos are found all across the web from musicians across the world. Three new music videos here in Canada got me thinking. They come from three different artists, three different parts of the country. But these three videos embody what music videos are all about. Keeping it real with a filming of an everyday thing made wonderful with the accompaniment of music, going back in time for a cinematic experience, or experimenting with today’s technology with animation.
Portage & Main - “Never Had the Time”
The band travels to Squamish and plays their country-rock by the fireside in plaid. Could you get more Canadian?
Old Man Luedecke - “Little Stream of Whiskey”
The banjo man fits right into a Medieval tavern as he plays a wise fellow. Luedecke’s first music video, it’s an impressive one that launches into full-throttle bottle smashing fun. We’ll leave the end a mystery.
Revelstoke - “Dans La Mer (Howl for Sade)”
Finally, an interesting cartoon, at once morbid and playful surrounding a well-dressed couple’s adventures with giant squid and outer space.
